Summary

Missouri Society of Enrolled Agents 2013 Annual Convention is featuring national speaker Amy L. King, EA, ATP and our very own Mark Sullivan, EA. Earn 12 hours CE (including 2 hours of ethics) from one of the very best education providers in Missouri.

Non-members are welcome to register for the seminar. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided both days and this year...we will have a dinner cruise with Celebration Cruises on Thursday evening, all of which is included in your registration (guest can register for the evening event by selecting the guest or child registration events).

In 2004 Amy become an Enrolled Agent, and opened King Tax Service LLP in Enumclaw, Washington. Currently her firm prepares over 750 individual tax returns and works over 50 audit cases a year. Amy teaches a wide variety of tax seminars and contributes much of her success to the mentorships and education she received through WSSEA. She graduated from the National Tax Practitioners Institute in

2006 and went on for more IRS Representation education through the American Academy of Tax Practice. When not immersed in tax issues, she enjoys the company of her best friend and husband Joe, and their three grown children. Her hobbies include ballroom dancing, road biking and playing with their dog, Daisy.

D R Sullivan & Company, CPA PC is a boutique firm that specializes in civil and criminal (white collar) forensic accounting. The firm consists of Mark and Donna Sullivan who both have over 20 years of experience in civil and criminal tax accounting, IRS representation and forensic accounting.

Prior to establishing Sullivan Consulting in 1998, Mr. Sullivan was a Revenue Officer with the New York, New York, Saint Louis, Missouri and Washington, D.C. offices of the Internal Revenue Service.

Mr. Sullivan is an Enrolled Agent and is admitted as an expert in theUnited States District Court.

Course Descriptions

Step by Step IRS Audit Procedure Workshop (8 hrs of Federal Tax Law) - This class, presented by AmyKing, EA, ATP, will cover everything from that first phone call you get from a taxpayer asking you for audit representation, walks you through a full audit, and finishes with how to close it out. Expect lively discussion and practical applications! One Audit Rep Kit is included with registration.

Overview of EITC Due Diligence (1 hr of Ethics) - This course, presented by Mark Sullivan, EA, will highlight the EITC due diligence related provisions of Circular 230. This uses an interactive case study approach to enhance the learning, comprehension and retention of the subject matter material.

Return Preparer Fraud (1hr of Ethics) - This course, presented by Mark Sullivan, EA, uses a criminal tax case – from indictment through sentencing - to clarify the myriad of regulations return preparers must follow. Focused on Circular 230 ethical issues specific to return preparation, topics include: best practices, due diligence to accuracy, attestation, records retention, information to be furnished, conflicting interest and practice of law.

 A 200 mph Advertising Medium? (1 hr of Federal Tax Law) - This course, presented by Mark Sullivan, EA and derived from a criminal tax case, walks participants step-by-step through a unique Schedule C audit that focuses on ordinary and necessary business expenses related to a high-performance racing boat under IRC 162(a).

 The Big Red 1 vs. IRS (1 hr of Federal Tax Law) - This course, presented by Mark Sullivan, EA, will discuss step-by-step the challenges a practitioner confronts in pursuing an Innocent Spouse – Equitable Relief claim. After completion of the course, participants will have a better understanding of how to prepare, protest and successfully represent an innocent spouse case under IRC 6015(f).
